1st Annual Keystone Classic

High School Girls’ Rugby Tournament

Memorial Day Weekend

 May 29 & 30, 2004

Keystone Rugby Club (KRC) cordially invites your team to participate in KRC’s first annual Girls’ High School Rugby Tournament.  Keystone’s goal is to foster the development of women’s rugby by supporting young players.  In the absence of an USA Rugby sponsored national championship, most girls’ high school teams are limited to local competition.  Keystone is excited to offer the opportunity for travel and exposure to a variety of clubs.  Keystone will host a competitive 16-team tournament on Memorial Day Weekend (May 29-30th).  Clubs from the Midwest, MARFU, and NRU are invited to attend. Keystone Classic application forms are due by March 15, 2004.

Brief KRC History

Keystone Rugby Club was founded on the concept of creating a positive rugby experience while playing competitively at the national level.  Keystone recruits both experienced rugby players as well as those new to the sport.  Amongst Keystone’s active roster of over thirty members are players who participated on various select sides that include, but are not limited to, the USA Women’s National Team, USA U23 Women’s National Team, Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union, and Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Football Union.  Additionally, Keystone’s coach, Peter Steinberg, is the former Program Director of the Women’s National Team, former Head Coach of the USA U23 Women’s National Team, and Penn State Women’s Rugby Head Coach.  Youth attending the Keystone Classic will have the opportunity to interact with a number of these individuals.  Keystone continues to promote women’s rugby on and off the field.
